Skrei is also known as miracle fish because it enabled fisherman to live while other fish was scarce. Skrei actually means the wanderer. These fish make an epic journey from Barents sea back to Norway’s Lofoten islands. Due to this dangerous journey the fish has exceptional firm white flesh. It also has criteria to meet to be classed as skrei such as: All fish is line caught by day boats, the fish must be fully grown (5 years old) with no scratches or bruising. Only 10% of Skrei fish is caught to ensure stocks are sustained for the future
